Nipple problems - unfortunately, we see them practically on a daily basis. Every lactation consultant can list some causes of nipple problems. And yet, we do not always succeed in anticipating this. Are we not looking in-depth enough? Not in all directions? Are we overlooking something? In this workshop we will jointly identify the causes of nipple problems on the basis of cases and images, after which the approach is discussed. Close

Knowing how to assess a baby's sucking is essential to understanding breastfeeding difficulties. To do this, it is necessary to master both the understanding of the sucking mechanism, the finger evaluation and the external appreciation of the sucking. Cleft lip and palate, can have a significant impact on an infant's ability to breastfeed and drink. Little time and insecurities on the part of the medical staff, the exclusive use of bottle feeding. As a result, a later start into a normal breastfeeding relationship after the surgical correction is often severely hindered. This lecture brings you alternative breastfeeding variants with which a later start of breastfeeding into a normal breastfeeding relationship after operation is possible. Close

Code: navigating the WHO Code for IBCLCs 2,5 E

Content

The Code was adopted by vote in 1981, 118 countries in favor, one against (US) to protect breastfeeding and the health of all babies. Later it was updated by 19 WHA resolutions having same legal power as the Code. The Code is part of IBCLC’s competencies who have to adhere to the principles and aim of the International Code of Marketing of BMS and subsequent relevant WHA resolutions. Navigating through all these docs will be the first part of the workshop, followed by exchange, discussions and ways forward. Close

We all know about communication skills. And yet, we still sometimes feel helpless, frustrated, or overwhelmed while working with our patients. This interactive workshop includes a lecture on the principles of excellence in communication skills for IBCLC's and a practical part in smaller groups. The practical part will involve pre-planned simulations that will demonstrate how we can implement the principles presented in the lecture in typical situations of breastfeeding consultations. Close

In this workshop the babytherapist Thomas Harms will show how bodypsychotherapeutic crisis- interventions support parents and newborn babys to get out of a vicious circle of contactlesness, alientation and parental feelings of impotence and withdrawal. The participants can pratice simple breathing interventions which help parents to open up a process of contagious health and Attunement with their children. Close

Oral restrictions have been known for many centuries. Recent research findings led to the discussion on how to handle this subject correctly. This workshop will focus the context from history and science to anatomy and oral function. We will learn to assess oral restrictions and create a care plan to treat infant oral dysfunction and to facilitate a partnership with our clients to implement the plan throughout the course of treatment. To accomplish these objectives we will use different materials. Close

Parental education, preparing future parents for breastfeeding 2,5 L

Content

In this workshop, we will explore why people seek health information and what happens when they are overburdened with information. The group’s ideas will be applied to breastfeeding education where information overload is problematic. We will look at fathers’ and partners’ needs around breastfeeding education. What do they want to know about and how do they want to learn? This workshop will help you enable more women to have a joyous experience of feeding their babies. Close
